About Your Teacher:
Ms. Sandy King
Ms. King grew up in American Fork, Utah, with two younger brothers. She
attended Snow College, and then she spent a couple of years in Paraguay,
South America. Ms. King graduated from Utah State University with a
minor in Social Studies and an emphasis in the education of the
Gifted/Talented. Ms. King has taught over 20 years in the 3rd-6th grades. She
has directed many musical productions, coached debate teams, supervised
many leadership groups, and has taught extracurricular science classes.
She recently earned an English for Language Learners endorsement through SUU and is currently working on a Masters degree. Ms. King enjoys hiking, plays/musicals, reading, playing the piano, technology, the UTAH JAZZ, art, zip lining, wild roller coasters, and playing ball with her dog-Kyra. She also has two cats, Athena and Skittles. A highlight
in her life was performing in the 2002 Salt Lake Winter Olympic Games
ceremonies. She loves teaching "her kids" and has been named in Who's
Who Among America's Teachers four times, was a Disney American Teacher
Award nominee, was honored as a teacher of the month/year for the cities of Sandy, Bluffdale, and South Jordan. Last year she was one of 10 teachers in the state who was honored with an "Excellence in Teaching Award" from the Utah Education Association and Children at Risk Foundation. She has also been recognized professionally by several other
businesses and educational organizations. Ms. King serves as an Edmodo Support Ambassador and was recently honored by Edmodo as a Distinguished Educator/Mentor Teacher. She is an Edmodo Certified Trainer and teaches teachers all over the world. Her greatest accolades, however; are having her former students share their successes with her. She is very proud of all of her students and looks forward to working with another group of awesome kids.
